2014 - 2017

At her software company "Big Energy Data" she enabled governments to gain a picture of the energy usage of buildings. She sold this startup in Austria in 2017.

 

Measuring the impact of actions to reduce energy consumption

We built B2C mobile and web apps to collect energy data of 500k Austrian buildings over 5 years and developed a data analysis tool for governments.

Reducing processing time for building permits from a few weeks to a few hours

In 4 Austrian federal states we introduced paperless online applications for building permits and housing subsidies.

 

How did she come to the U.S.?

In 2014 Renate moved to the US to study "Urban Science and Informatics" at New York University.

 

Analyzing Energy Use in New York City

Our research paper on urban energy consumption received the Best Paper Award at the Bloomberg Data for Good Exchange conference in NYC 2015

Reducing Delay of New York Buses

With a team of 6 students we implemented a visualization tool for bus data to improve NY bus performance

2010 - 2013

She designed public impact solutions at her software company gizmocraft and, among others, built products to support local businesses in Vienna.

 

Increasing sales for local small businesses by building a digital community

Working with the Austrian Chambers of Commerce we developed a 2 sided market place for Viennese small businesses and helped build business communities.

Making public funding for Environmental Protection visible

For the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund we built a B2B application to administer the federal funding budget and publish funded projects.

 

2006 - 2010

She co-founded a digital advertising agency in Vienna, Austria. She created digital engagement tools to make consumers buy products like Coca-Cola and L'Oréal shampoo.

 

Building an online community for Coca-Cola

We engaged users with a scalable out-of-the-box sweepstake engine, casual games and social media campaigns to increase sales of physical products.

Building and growing an interdiscplinary team
